Beyond the textbook: Students experience operations at Mahindra & Mahindra

The smell of fresh paint, the clanging of metal, and machines moving in perfect rhythm. It’s a world no textbook can capture. Graduate Certificate of Global Management (GCGM) cohort of 2025 got a rare glimpse into Mahindra & Mahindra’s commercial vehicle facility, watching raw steel and parts transform into vehicles ready for the road.

“Seeing a vehicle come together piece by piece made me realise how much planning and teamwork it really takes.” – a student mentioned.

Graduate Certificate of Global Management (GCGM) cohort of 2025 got a rare glimpse into Mahindra & Mahindra’s commercial vehicle facility, watching raw steel and parts transform into vehicles ready for the road.

Sustainability and ethics on the floor

What really stood out was Mahindra’s strong commitment to sustainability, inclusion, and ethics. Students noticed how these values were part of daily operations, from energy-efficient processes to inclusive workplace practices. “It was eye-opening to see that doing the right thing and doing it efficiently can go hand in hand,” another student shared.

Insights from industry experts

Representing Mahindra Group, Mugdha Khandelwal, walked students through the logic behind every process, from supply flow to assembly checkpoints. The team shared how decisions on the floor connect to the company’s larger strategy, giving students real-world examples of how theory meets practice.

Beyond machines, it was the people who left a lasting impression. Teams on the assembly line worked with focus, collaboration, and quick problem-solving under pressure. Students realised that leadership isn’t just in offices. It’s on the ground, in every action of a well-coordinated team.

Why such industry visits matter

Experiential learning like this does more than complement classroom studies. Students witness real-world challenges, understand decision-making in action, and see how responsible organisations operate. It’s the bridge between theory and practical insight.

The GCGM program at SP Jain Global makes immersive experiences a core part of the journey. By connecting students with industry leaders and exposing them to real-world operations, the program ensures they graduate not just with knowledge, but with actionable insights.
