Overview

The Data Science Pathway (DSP) is a 9-month professional program designed as a direct pathway into SP Jain Global’s Bachelor of Data Science (BDS).

The program builds a strong foundation in programming, mathematics, statistics, and analytics. On successful completion of DSP, students are eligible to apply for direct entry into Year 2 of the BDS program at SP Jain Global’s Sydney campus, with recognition of prior learning for the DSP units completed.

Note: Admission to the BDS program is subject to approval by SP Jain Global’s Admissions Committee. The DSP is a professional program and is not accredited under the Australian Qualifications Framework. It is also not recognised by AICTE or any other regulatory body in India.

Curriculum

To complete the requirements of the DSP program and progress to SP Jain Global’s Bachelor of Data Science program in Sydney, students must complete 26 credits.

Pathway to global opportunities

On completing DSP, students can apply to transition directly into Year 2 of SP Jain Global’s Bachelor of Data Science (BDS) in Sydney.

Years 2 and 3 of the BDS program are then completed in Sydney, where students deepen their expertise in data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, while gaining exposure to Australia’s vibrant tech ecosystem and internship / career opportunities.

About SP Jain Global’s Bachelor of Data Science

SP Jain Global’s Bachelor of Data Science (BDS) is a cutting-edge, 3-year degree designed to prepare students for the most in-demand careers of the future. Offered at our Sydney campus, the program blends theory with real-world application, equipping graduates with the skills and confidence to thrive in a data-driven world.

*As an international student, you may be able to continue to live and work in Australia temporarily following the completion of your undergraduate degree at SP Jain. While graduating students can apply for a post-study work visa of up to 2 years per the current immigration guidelines, it is not a guaranteed program outcome. Please check the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs website regularly for eligibility, more information and updates.

Admission requirement

  • All applicants (domestic and international) are expected to have completed a minimum of 12 years of schooling demonstrated by one or more of the following:

    • Completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education authorised by a relevant state-based issuing agency with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or its interstate equivalent of 70; or
    • Completion of an accredited vocational education and training (VET) qualification at Diploma or Advanced Diploma level completed at an ASQA registered training organisation (RTO); or
    • All India Senior School Certificate (issued by CBSE) or the India School Certificate (ISC) or the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Year 12 exam from the Indian State Board with a score of 60% or more; or
    • International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) score of 24 or more; or
    • Completion of an international qualification where the content, level and intended outcomes are deemed to be equivalent to any of the above through official qualification recognition register or mapping of equivalence by the School.
  • In lieu of above, completion of minimum years of 11 years of schooling for the nine Commonwealth of International States (CIS) countries subject to a minimum CGPA score of 4.00 out of 5.00 issued by the National Board in these countries.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • All applicants must have completed their education as detailed above in English and must provide certified evidence to the School.
  • Applicants who have not completed their most recent education qualifications in English are required to take any of the following recognised formal English language test and obtain currently valid minimum scores as below:

    • IELTS score of 6
    • TOEFL iBT score of 60 overall
    • PTE score of 50
  • International applicants (including those who have completed their most recent education qualifications in English) who are undertaking study at our Sydney campus may need to meet the English language test requirements detailed by the Australian Government to obtain their student visas. All applicants that meet the eligibility requirements must take one of the following tests:

    • SAT (SAT College Code - 7579)
    • ACT (ACT College Code - 1473)
    • SPJET (SP Jain Global Entrance Test)
    • Joint Entrance Exam (Main) [JEE (Main)]: JEE (Main) are standardised examinations administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India

All applicants need to obtain the minimum test score required as specified in the Undergraduate (including Diploma) Admission and Selection Policy in order to be evaluated for admission.

The school also requires the applicants to meet the minimum requirements of 600 in the Math section of the SAT; or minimum 75% in the Numeracy section of the SPJET. It is rare for SP Jain to admit students with lower scores, but we do consider all factors including academic performance and extracurricular achievements. Shortlisted applicants who want to take the SPJET are required to pay the fee of USD 45 before requesting for the SPJET date.

  • The school establishes a shortlist of potential applicants based on:
    • Past academic performance and other achievements.
    • English language proficiency to ensure successful participation; and
    • Outcomes and scores of aptitude tests.
  • All shortlisted applicants will be notified in writing by the school that their application has proceeded to the shortlist for admission.
  • As part of the final stage of applicant evaluation, all shortlisted applicants will be required to write two essays and undertake a personal interview at one of the school’s campuses or online with a member of the school’s academic staff. The essays and interviews are designed to assess the applicant's communication skills, aptitude, and knowledge.

Shortlisted applicants are required to pay the evaluation fee of USD 55 before requesting for the evaluation date.
