Can 40 tablets and a conversation about future dreams make a difference in a student’s learning journey? On 21st August, SP Jain Global visited NM Joshi Municipal School in Mumbai to bring together AI-enabled learning and interactive workshops through the Rise Up Girls & Boys initiative. The visit was coordinated by Dr Nada Sayarh, Deputy Director – Ethics, Sustainability & Social Responsibility (ESR), along with the CSR and Sustainability team and the Graduate Certificate of Global Management (GCGM) program student volunteers.
As part of its continued commitment to community development and more inclusive access to education, SP Jain Global had previously provided 40 tablets and access to the AI Tutor for students in Classes 7–10 at NM Joshi Municipal School.
During the visit, students shared how these tools help them understand difficult English words and passages, learn science and mathematics concepts, and explore general knowledge. Teachers also shared their experiences of using the resources in the classroom, highlighting the importance of combining technology with teacher guidance. The initiative is supported by the Rotary Club of Bombay.
Alongside digital learning, SP Jain Global continued its engagement with NM Joshi Municipal School through the third edition of its Rise Up Girls & Boys initiative. GCGM student volunteers interacted with students across three classrooms through discussions and activities on sports, empowerment, overcoming challenges, setting goals and future careers.
The sessions encouraged students to believe in their abilities, continue learning and consider opportunities beyond the challenges they may face. For the GCGM volunteers, the experience offered an opportunity to understand the students’ perspectives and reflect on the role of empathy and social responsibility.
After the workshops, around 15–20 students took part in a feedback session, where they spoke in Hindi about what they had learnt, how the discussions had influenced their thinking and what they hoped to become in the future. Books, stationery and refreshments were also distributed.
The visit brought together SP Jain Global’s digital learning initiative and the Rise Up Girls & Boys program, with school students and GCGM volunteers sharing their experiences and perspectives. It also reflected the importance of continued engagement with the school and creating opportunities for students to learn from one another.
