Professor Vincent James Hooper, faculty at SP Jain School of Global Management, has been awarded the Distinguished Achievement award in Political Economy for the Twenty-First Century by the World Association for Political Economy (WAPE).

Among the most prestigious in the field, the award recognises scholars whose work reshapes political economy for today’s global challenges, with past recipients including leading economists and policy innovators.

At SP Jain Global, Professor Hooper has been a leading voice on finance, governance, and political risk. His research, from emerging markets to the impacts of AI, climate change, and shifting alliances, bridges traditional political economy with today’s challenges, offering tools for governments and businesses to manage risk and seize opportunity.

Acknowledging Professor Hooper’s contribution, a WAPE spokesperson said: “His research on political risk in emerging markets offers vital insights into one of today’s defining challenges, helping policymakers, investors, and academics navigate instability and opportunity in a multipolar economy.”
