A classroom can be a place to learn a lesson, but it can also be a place to discover something new about yourself. At NM Joshi Municipal School in Mumbai, students got the opportunity to explore both during SP Jain Global’s engagement with the school on 21st August 2026.

The day brought together technology, interactive learning and conversations about the future. Students explored how artificial intelligence (AI) could support their studies, participated in workshops led by SP Jain Global’s Graduate Certificate of Global Management (GCGM) program students and spoke openly about their ambitions, challenges and career aspirations.

The engagement was a part of SP Jain Global’s ongoing work with NM Joshi, supported by the Rotary Club of Bombay and Rotary Global Impact 1990 Switzerland.

In 2025, SP Jain Global provided the school with 40 tablets and access to an AI Tutor. Since then, students from classes 7 to 10 have been using the tablets to explore subjects, find information, clarify concepts and support their classroom learning. During the August visit, students shared how they used the AI Tutor and how the technology had supported their learning, while teachers spoke about the changes they had observed in students’ engagement and confidence.

The visit also marked the third engagement under Rise Up Girls & Boys, an initiative through which GCGM students conduct interactive sessions for NM Joshi students. GCGM students from the June 2026 cohort led workshops for classes 7 to 10 around sports, overcoming challenges, confidence, setting goals and future careers.

The sessions gave NM Joshi students a chance to participate, exchange ideas and think about what they wanted for their future. Many spoke about what they had learnt and the careers they aspired to pursue, reinforcing the idea that their current circumstances did not have to define their ambitions.

For the GCGM students, the experience offered a different kind of learning. Working with younger students helped them develop their communication and leadership skills while giving them a deeper understanding of empathy and social responsibility.

The day concluded with the distribution of books, stationery, snacks and goodies, followed by a vote of thanks and an exchange between the GCGM program and NM Joshi students.

The engagement brought together two groups of students with different experiences but a shared opportunity to learn from one another. For the NM Joshi students, it meant access to new tools, ideas and perspectives. For the GCGM students, it was an opportunity to put their own learning into practice and understand the value of contributing to their community.
