The S P Jain School of Global Management Convocation Ceremony was held in Dubai on the 24th of September, 2016. This special occasion marked the graduation of more than a hundred graduates from the GMBA, MGB, and EMBA programs.
The Convocation ceremony was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road. The event was conducted by Professor Christopher Abraham, Head of the Dubai Campus and Sr. Vice President, and was graced by Dr. Balakrishna Grandhi, Dean of the Executive MBA, Dr. Indu Niranjan, Dean of the Global MBA, and Dr. Preeta George, Dean of the MGB. The Chief Guest of Honour was Dr. Bushra Al Mulla, the Director of the Education and Social Affairs Department at the Prime Minister’s Office, U. A. E. The special guest from the corporate world was Mr. Phil Showering, the Chief Operating Officer for Mohebi Logistics, Dubai.
This convocation had the special distinction of having other leading global luminaries gracing the occasion. These included Dr. Jayanthi Suresh, award winning humanitarian and a successful entrepreneur, and Dr. Sandy Amachor, retired General of the US Army and former defence adviser to the UAE Government.
Dr. Bushra, in her special address, emphasized the importance of having a vision and executing that vision in achieving the goal. She quoted His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s leadership qualities and spoke about how he built the Dubai city from a desert to the world’s most technologically advanced city. She linked all of this very thoughtfully into the futures of these graduates.
Mr. Phil Showering, in his address, emphasized the simple but profound qualities of humility, passion, and respect, and how these qualities are extremely crucial during the graduates’ climb to success.
Speeches on the reflection of experiences were given by one graduate from each program, and they enthralled the audience with humour and liveliness.
This was followed by a special presentation, Moments & Memories, which was welcomed with a thunderous applause and appreciation by the graduates.
The graduates then celebrated the occasion by tossing their graduation hats and formally concluded the evening with a heartening buffet spread.
