Power Talk Series – Industry leader Andrew George hosts a session on luxury retail

 

SP Jain School of Global Management firmly believes in providing its students with extensive industry exposure to help them gain knowledge and market awareness from the pioneers in the industry. To build upon such experiences, SP Jain has introduced an exclusive Power Talk series for its Master in Global Luxury Goods & Services Management (MGLuxM) students. It’s an initiative to promote direct interaction between the students and industry experts and supplement academic learning with real-world market insights.

To build upon such experiences, SP Jain has introduced an exclusive Power Talk series for its Master in Global Luxury Goods & Services Management (MGLuxM) students. It’s an initiative to promote direct interaction between the students and industry experts and supplement academic learning with real-world market insights.

The MGLuxM February 2020 cohort kickstarted the Power Talk series with a two-day session by industry leader Andrew George on February 19-20, 2020 at the Mumbai campus. Over his decade-long experience training employees for some of the world’s most iconic luxury brands, he has worked with several renowned names including Louis Vuitton, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Moschino, among others.

During his session on retail operations & strategy, Mr George shared in-depth insights on the dynamics of the luxury retail space within a complex market like India and the key trends redefining the luxury retail industry today. He discussed the buying and merchandising approach of high-end luxury brands, statistical data relevant to the current market, and the buying-behaviour of millennials and how they are impacting the luxury industry on a large scale.

Mr George also explained the significance of luxury client profiling. To enhance the students’ learning experience, he encouraged them to create mood boards for brands. He also shed light on how luxury is shifting from omni-channel to omni-personal, the idea behind brand advertising and customer connect, and the importance of online sales and supply chain.
