SP JAIN'S EVENTS

S P Jain School of Global Management organised its first ever IT management conclave in February 2017, across all the four campuses in Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore and Sydney. A unique platform for business leaders, ICT professionals and academics to understand the key ICT trends and access its impact on the industry sector enterprises and workforce, the conclave was undeniably a tremendous success.

The Digital Transformation Conclave 2017 saw a confluence of great minds from the IT and business worlds across the globe. Professionals from leading organisations came together to discuss and share the emerging digital trends needed now and in the future. Aptly themed ‘Leading Digital Transformation’ the conclave witnessed business leaders and change agents participating in panel discussions titled ‘Enabling Digital Transformation’ and ‘Driving Business Advantage with Digital Transformation’.

The conclaves in all four campuses were addressed by Dr. Karippur Nanda Kumar, Associate Professor and Area Head - IT, SP Jain School of Global Management, who shared the key findings of a survey conducted across India, Middle East, Singapore and Australia. His presentation titled “Making Sense of Digital Disruption”, focused on the survey findings in areas of General Industry Outlook for 2017, Organisational Readiness, Barriers Related to Digital Transformation and Implications to Enterprises and Business Schools.

Mumbai Chapter

Hospitality is much more than visual or culinary pleasantness. On 23^rd February 2017, SP Jain’s MGB students specialising in Contemporary Marketing Management visited Crowne Plaza, IHG Group to understand the function of the hospitality sector in Dubai and its influence on the country’s economy.

The enthusiasm of the students led to the birth of Inizio’17, a management cultural festival which is the first of its kind organised by BBA Jaguars at SP Jain’s Mumbai campus. This inter-college festival hoped to exemplify creativity, excellence and talent among its participants and organisers alike. In a bid to promote the hidden potential of the students and celebrate diversity in its uniqueness, a two-day Inter College Management Cultural Fest- Inizio’17 was organised by a cohort of only 57 students. It was a busy affair with a gamut of events to test talent, logical thinking, spontaneity and knowledge. The cultural events broadly categorised into Performing arts, Literary arts, Fine arts, Management events, Gaming and Sports along with a variety of fun informal events for students to showcase their skills. 154 students from various colleges participated in the same.

On 12^th February 2017, the GMBA cohort specialising in IT and a few selected Undergraduate students keen to pursue technology and business visited the Microsoft Technology Centre located at Dubai Internet City for an interaction with the Developer Experience (DX) team to understand the business overview of Microsoft and the key role in plays in the UAE & GCC market.

The Digital Transformation Conclave 2017, held on the 8th of Feb at the Raffles Hotel, in partnership with Microsoft and Protiviti, saw a confluence of great minds from the IT and business worlds of the Middle East. Professionals from leading organizations came together to discuss and share the emerging digital trends needed now and in the future. In the current era, key technologies are driving digital transformation across industries. Disruptive technologies used in services and products will accelerate the growth of digital transformation. Understanding and adapting to these changes and their associated challenges is one of the top priorities of businesses today. Aptly themed ‘Leading Digital Transformation’ the conclave witnessed business leaders and change agents participating in panel discussions titled ‘Enabling Digital Transformation’ and ‘Driving Business Advantage with Digital Transformation.

On 7^th February 2017, Mr. Anthony Permal, Multi-Channel Marketing Manager for GlaxoSmithKline in the Gulf, shared his 18 years of experience as an inbound marketing specialist across various industries with the Bachelor of Business Communications cohorts of SP Jain’s Dubai Campus.

The Nanyang MBA Olympics, hosted by Nanyang Business School is a volunteer interscholastic one-day sporting event that gathers the top MBA schools of Singapore (Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), INSEAD, Singapore Management University (SMU), ESSEC, S P Jain School of Global Management) in a friendly sports competition on 5^th February, 2017.

A semester at S P Jain begins with various activities introduced for the students. The BBA JAGS 2017 began their outbound trip of the second semester on the 3^rd and 4^th of February with a trip to Kundalika River.

Lavasa is a private, planned city being built near Pune. It is stylistically based on the Italian town Portofino, with a street and several buildings bearing the name of that town. S P Jain School of Global Management’s Mumbai campus began the second semester for its BBA JAGS 2017 with their first outbound Industrial Visit to the same place. On the 3^rd of February, 2017, Lavasa became a part of the various activities S P Jain introduces to its students every semester.
