Apoorva Mittal (BBA’14) recently authored her first book, Refugee Changemakers: From Displaced to Indispensable, which documents the journey of thirteen immigrants from Syria, Iraq, Eritrea, Uganda, Sirrea Leone and Rwanda to the Netherlands. The foreword for the book has been written by Dr Henrik Syse (member of the Norwegian Nobel committee). Two of the stories from the book were also featured in a report by UN Academic Impact and Media Tenor, which was launched at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2018.

We caught up with our alumnus, Rachit Chandra (GMBA’13), getting to know his success story. Rachit is currently working as the Deputy General Manager – Human Resources with Samsung Electronics. My story started on January 9, 2016, when I first moved to Singapore. Before this, I was working as a vet and an export technical manager of a pharmaceutical company based in Italy. Having completed my PhD in Veterinary Medicine, my studies opened several lucrative doors for me in the agro-zoo-veterinary sector. However, my goal was to start managing a leading organisation and increase their performance, and I had absolutely no experience in this area.

Never underestimate the power of networking, building relationships and keeping our LinkedIn profiles updated – this was one of the many learnings I got during my time at SP Jain which helped me reach where I am today. While pursuing my Master of Global Business (MGB) degree, I gathered the right set of technical and soft skills while also gaining the global exposure and platform to set foot in one of the best FMCG companies in the world. The Corporate Relations team at SP Jain put in tremendous effort into making sure we had the right ‘action words’ that highlighted our abilities in the best way possible. Multiple workshops were conducted to help us perfect our resume and make it impactful.
