For Bharath Kalyan, London's biggest takeaway wasn't just the global classroom—it was the people who made it unforgettable.
As part of SP Jain Global's Master of Global Business (MGB) programme, Bharath spent his first term in Singapore before heading to London for his student exchange and is now completing his final term in Dubai. While every city has contributed to his global learning journey, it was during his time in London that friendships across cultures transformed a foreign city into a place that truly felt like home.

How Industry Projects at SP Jain Global Prepared Me for My Career

Looking back at my time at SP Jain Global, the experiences that shaped me most weren't the ones I expected.

I'm now a Senior Market Research Officer at Sharjah Cooperative Society, one of the UAE's largest consumer cooperatives. My work covers pricing studies, competitor benchmarking and category performance, understanding how shoppers respond to price movements and turning those insights into recommendations the business can use.

When I started my Bachelor of Data Science at SP Jain Global, I expected to learn Python and statistics. I didn't expect the degree to change how I think about problems in general—but that's largely what's happened.

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) rapidly automates routine tasks and reshapes entire industries, the job market is shifting beneath our feet. Technical skills alone are no longer a guaranteed safety net. What matters now is adaptability, domain understanding, and critical thinking.

Basics every data science aspirant should know

Every year, I meet prospective students who are excited about Data Science but arrive with only a hazy sense of what the field actually demands of them day to day. That's completely normal — the discipline is often described in the media through its most dramatic outputs (a self-driving car, a chatbot, a fraud-detection system) without much explanation of the foundational thinking and skills that sit underneath. Before you commit to a program like ours, or even before your first semester begins, it helps enormously to understand the basics — not just the tools, but the mindset — that data science actually runs on.

If I had to describe my first year at SP Jain Global in one word, it would be transformative. Coming into university, I expected to learn new concepts and develop technical skills, but I did not anticipate how much my perspective on learning, problem-solving, and the real-world impact of data would evolve in just one year.

Being surrounded by students solving real problems for different markets has also changed my approach to solving business problems and creating real business value with AI.

Campus Chronicles: What’s it like exchanging to the SP Jain London campus? This has been my experience.

I began my 3^rd year of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at the SP Jain London campus; a relatively new campus located near Canary Wharf.

A year later, when people approach me to know more about the London campus, I am reminded of the fascinating lessons and memories from the academic year.

One of those lessons was in a conversation with a professor. I remember having mentioned that I didn’t have a clear goal in mind, and that I have always been a confused individual that likes to go with the flow.
