Hi, I'm Govind Aggarwal, currently pursuing my Master of Global Business (MGB) at SP Jain School of Global Management, set to graduate in September 2026. I'm originally from Patiala, Punjab, where I completed my bachelor's degree at Thapar Institute in International Management with a minor in Psychology. I come from a business family, so conversations about markets, negotiation, and enterprise were part of my everyday upbringing long before they became coursework.
What drew me to the MGB program was its multi-city format — the chance to study and work across Dubai and Singapore and build a genuinely global perspective on business. When I first learned about SP Jain Global and the MGB program, I was intrigued, and honestly, quite thrilled by the opportunity, because I was keen to step outside India and immerse myself in different cultures and academic environments. Before joining SP Jain Global, I had already gained my experience into marketing through Instagram content creation and social media work, which gave me an early appreciation for how brands build relationships with their audiences — something I've carried into every project since.
About Danube Properties
Danube Properties is one of Dubai's most recognisable real estate developers, known for making property ownership accessible through its signature low-entry, flexible payment plans — most notably, the 1% monthly payment model that has become something of an industry benchmark in the UAE. Operating in a market dominated by big-ticket, cash-heavy transactions, Danube has carved out a unique position by democratising real estate investment, attracting a wide base of first-time buyers and international investors alike. As one of the leading names in Dubai's off-plan residential sector, the company plays a meaningful role in shaping how the city's real estate growth story is told — fast-paced, ambitious, and constantly innovating on the customer experience side of property sales.
A Day in My Life as a Marketing Intern
As a Business Development and Marketing Intern, my work sits at the intersection of strategy, content, and client-facing communication. A typical day starts with reviewing ongoing campaigns and checking in on whatever marketing initiative is active that week. Lately, most of my energy has gone into Danube's Referral Partner Program — a project that's given me end-to-end exposure to how a marketing initiative comes together.
This has meant drafting and refining outreach messaging for WhatsApp and LinkedIn to engage potential referral partners, writing and polishing copy for sign-up forms, and editing promotional collateral to keep it accurate and on-brand. A big part of the process has also been tapping into our personal and professional networks to identify and onboard potential referral partners and then walking them through how the program works — from registration and eligibility to how referrals are tracked and how commissions are earned. It's a side of marketing that isn't just about crafting a message — it's about building genuine relationships and making sure every partner understands the process clearly from day one.
Beyond this, my days involve internal meetings to align on messaging, coordinating with design and sales teams, and occasionally researching market trends to inform positioning. Earlier in my internship, I also created a marketing brochure explaining Danube's 70/30 payment plan structure to prospective buyers — a project that taught me how to translate complex financial terms into something a customer can grasp in seconds.
My Most Valuable Learning
The biggest shift in me has been learning to think like a business owner, not just a marketer. Reviewing legal agreements, questioning commission structures, and pressure-testing outreach copy for accuracy has taught me that good marketing is inseparable from good judgment. I've also had to get comfortable owning a project from first draft to final output — a level of responsibility that's pushed me to be more detail-oriented and more confident voicing concerns when something doesn't sit right.
Work Culture at Danube Properties
The culture at Danube has been genuinely good. My manager has a relaxed, approachable nature and has been supportive across all kinds of work, which makes it easy to ask questions or flag concerns without hesitation. I also get to work alongside fellow SP Jain peers, which adds a nice layer of familiarity, and beyond that, I've had the chance to interact with interns and students from other colleges and universities — which has been a great way to compare notes on how different institutions prepare you for the workplace.
A New Lens on Real Estate and Global Business
Working at Danube has completely reshaped how I think about real estate — it's not just about property; it's about trust, accessibility, and storytelling. Seeing how a company builds confidence with buyers making one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives has given me a much sharper appreciation for customer engagement and brand credibility in high-stakes industries. It's also shown me how local market dynamics — Dubai's regulatory environment, its investor mix, its pace of growth — shape marketing decisions in ways that don't always translate from a textbook case study.
Classroom Lessons That Came Alive
Subjects like Accounting, ASDM, and Corporate Finance, alongside the core marketing courses, have all fed directly into how I approach my work at Danube — whether it's understanding the commercial logic behind a payment plan or being able to hold my own in a conversation that touches on numbers, not just messaging. The faculty teaching these subjects made a real effort to ensure students actually absorbed the material rather than just passing through it, and that groundwork has made me far more confident navigating real business conversations.
The one-on-one PRP sessions, paired with faculty interviews, were especially useful in sharpening how I present myself and my work professionally. Also, it is worth pointing out that JPT AI is a genuinely valuable tool for students preparing for interviews and professional conversations.
Advice for Future MGB Students
Say yes to the unglamorous work. Some of my most valuable lessons at Danube haven't come from the big strategic conversations — they've come from editing a PDF for the fifth time or combing through a legal agreement line by line. Treat every task, no matter how small, as a chance to understand how the business actually runs. And don't be afraid to ask "why" — the more context you build around a project, the more useful (and confident) you'll become as an intern.
The MGB program gives you the exposure; what you do with it during your internship is up to you. Stay curious, stay thorough, and treat every deliverable as if your name is on it — because eventually, it is.
