My BBA classroom without walls: A global learning experience

Growing up in Singapore, I have always been surrounded by a vibrant tapestry of cultures. Diversity was familiar to me, yet even with that background, nothing quite compared to the extraordinary mix of perspectives I encountered at S P Jain Global.

Growing up in Singapore, I have always been surrounded by a vibrant tapestry of cultures. Diversity was familiar to me, yet even with that background, nothing quite compared to the extraordinary mix of perspectives I encountered at S P Jain Global.

The university brought together students from around the world – each with their own stories, customs, and ways of thinking – this created an environment where cultural exchange was as natural as attending a lecture. This richness shaped not only how I learned, but how I understood the world.

Not just a face in the crowd

Our cohort was not large by traditional university standards, and in many ways, that became one of the biggest advantages of studying Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at S P Jain Global. The intimate class sizes meant we weren’t a just face in a crowd. The close-knit environment meant our professors knew us by name, understood how we learned, and could give us the kind of individual attention that’s often rare in higher education. It was comforting – and motivating – to learn in an environment where our professors and university staff knew us personally and could guide us accordingly.

Learning from real-world scenarios

The BBA faculty, in particular, made a lasting impression on me. Many of them came straight from the industry, bringing with them years of experience, stories, and the occasional surprising anecdote. Their classes weren’t just lectures; they were conversations built on real experiences. Concepts that felt distant and mundane in a textbook, suddenly clicked into place when tied to a real scenario. It made learning more meaningful – and often more memorable. Learning from people who had lived the concepts we studied in textbooks made the material more real and thus more relatable in unexpected ways.

No two classes were the same

The program’s emphasis on group work, industry projects, and guided business simulations kept the academic experience dynamic and far from repetitive. No two classes felt the same. We were constantly challenged to think differently, collaborate across cultures, and examine problems from multiple angles. This approach not only strengthened my understanding of the concepts but also made learning feel more engaging and fun.

The difference that SP Jain Global’s ‘Global Learning Program’ made

But if there is one aspect of S P Jain Global that I will always speak about with genuine excitement, it is the Global Learning Program. It is easy as a student to get caught up in deadlines and exams, rarely taking the time to appreciate our surroundings. The Global Learning Program changed that. Whether it was exploring cultural landmarks, diving into the business ecosystems of different cities, or even just enjoying a weekend adventure, the program ensured we didn’t simply study abroad – we truly experienced each country. Those moments helped shape my mindset while also giving me a deeper appreciation for global perspectives.

Looking back

Looking back, my undergraduate experience at S P Jain Global was a vibrant blend of academic rigor, cultural discovery, and memorable adventures. Despite the challenges that Covid brought about, S P Jain Global continued to push me to grow not just as a student, but as a person ready to navigate an increasingly interconnected world – with curiosity, confidence, and a willingness to learn from every place and every person I meet.
