A step-by-step guide

Admissions Process

STEP 1

ELIGIBILITY

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • All applicants (domestic and international) are expected to have completed a minimum of 12 years of schooling demonstrated by one or more of the following:

    • Completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education authorised by a relevant state-based issuing agency with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or its interstate equivalent of 70; or
    • Completion of an accredited vocational education and training (VET) qualification at Diploma or Advanced Diploma level completed at an ASQA registered training organisation (RTO); or
    • All India Senior School Certificate (issued by CBSE) or the India School Certificate (ISC) or the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Year 12 exam from the Indian State Board with a score of 60% or more; or
    • International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) score of 24 or more; or
    • Completion of an international qualification where the content, level and intended outcomes are deemed to be equivalent to any of the above through official qualification recognition register or mapping of equivalence by the School.
  • In lieu of above, completion of minimum years of 11 years of schooling for the nine Commonwealth of International States (CIS) countries subject to a minimum CGPA score of 4.00 out of 5.00 issued by the National Board in these countries.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • All applicants must have completed their education as detailed above in English and must provide certified evidence to the School.
  • Applicants who have not completed their most recent education qualifications in English are required to take any of the following recognised formal English language test and obtain currently valid minimum scores as below:

    • IELTS score of 6, with no band less than 5.5
    • TOEFL iBT score of 60 overall, with no band less than 20
    • PTE score of 50, with no band less than 45
  • International applicants (including those who have completed their most recent education qualifications in English) who are undertaking study at our Sydney campus may need to meet the English language test requirements detailed by the Australian Government to obtain their student visas. Note: SP Jain does not enrol students under 18 years of age at the Sydney campus.

APPLICATION

  • Submit your application online (no application fee)
  • A student needs to submit only one application. Duplication of applications may lead to a student's form/admission being disqualified.
  • It is not necessary to have Year 12 results in hand at the time of application. In case the Year 12 results are not in hand, selected students will be offered conditional admission to the program.

STEP 3

ENTRANCE TEST

APTITUDE/ENTRANCE TEST SCORE REQUIREMENTS

All applicants that meet the eligibility requirements must take one of the following tests:

  • SAT (SAT College Code - 7579)
  • ACT (ACT College Code - 1473)
  • SPJET (SP Jain Entrance Test)

All applicants need to obtain the minimum test score required as specified in the Undergraduate (including Diploma) Admission and Selection Policy in order to be evaluated for admission.

It is rare for SP Jain to admit students with lower scores, but we do consider all factors including academic performance and extracurricular achievements.

Shortlisted applicants who want to take the SPJET are required to pay the fee of USD 45 before requesting for the SPJET date.

STEP 4

EVALUATION & INTERVIEW

  • The School establishes a shortlist of potential applicants based on:

    • Past academic performance and other achievements;
    • English language proficiency to ensure successful participation; and
    • Outcomes and scores of aptitude tests.
  • All shortlisted applicants will be notified in writing by the School that their application has proceeded to the shortlist for admission.
  • As part of the final stage of applicant evaluation, all shortlisted applicants will be required to write two essays and undertake a personal interview at one of the School's campuses or online with a member of the School's academic staff. The essays and interview are designed to assess the applicant's communication skills, aptitude, and knowledge.

Shortlisted applicants are required to pay the evaluation fee of USD 55 before requesting for the evaluation date.

STEP 5

ADMISSION RESULTS

Applicants are emailed an admission decision approximately a week after evaluations.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

 

I don't have a passport yet. Can I still apply?

Yes, you can still apply. However, you will need to have a passport one month prior to the commencement of the course.

 

Do you accept transfer students?

Yes. Students with verifiable college/university credits can apply for a credit transfer. The School will assess applications in line with our Credit Transfer and Articulation Policy.

 

Does SP Jain require students to take an English language test?

All applicants must have completed their education in English and must provide certified evidence to the School.

Applicants who have not completed their most recent education qualifications in English are required to take any of the recognised formal English language tests and obtain currently valid minimum scores as listed in the Undergraduate (including Diploma) Admission and Selection Policy.

International applicants (including those who have completed their most recent education qualifications in English) who are undertaking study at our Sydney campus may need to meet the English language test requirements detailed by the Australian Government to obtain their student visas.
