On May 2, 2023, SP Jain Global’s Batch 12 MGLuxM students set off on an amazing art walk into the center of Mumbai's artistic community. Their destination: three luxurious art galleries that showcased the city's rich artistic heritage and offered a glimpse into the thriving art market. The students visited the famous Apre House, TARQ Gallery, and Galerie Isa, located in the culturally vibrant regions of Fort and Colaba, Mumbai.

Stepping into the Apre House, the students witnessed craftsmanship from decades and even centuries ago on display. The gallery featured a magnificent collection of art pieces, each representing a unique fusion of tradition and modernism. The students were intrigued by the rich tapestry of workmanship that unfolded before their eyes, from complex paintings to expertly crafted artefacts.

The TARQ Gallery gave the art walk a modern edge by showcasing a colorful and lively collection of contemporary art for the students. Thought-provoking paintings, abstract installations, and creative mixed-media works filled the gallery's walls. Engaging in discussions with the gallery curators, the students explored the inspirations behind each artwork, delving into the minds of the artists and discovering the intricate thought processes that shape their creations.

Galerie Isa, nestled in the heart of Mumbai's art district, offered the students valuable insights into the business side of the art world. They learned about the complex procedures of auctions and the networks of distribution that influence the art market. Faculty and students watched as artwork was carefully selected and presented to possible bidders as part of the thorough planning for an upcoming auction. The students got a firsthand look at the work that goes into getting art from gifted creators into the hands of zealous collectors and lovers.

A captivating voyage through the world of art left an indelible mark on the faculty and students, igniting their passion and transforming their perspectives. Engaging in thought-provoking dialogues with gallery owners, curators, and fellow art enthusiasts, they unravelled the intricacies of the ever-evolving art market and gained a profound appreciation for the transformative power of artistic expression.
