The MGLuxM Conversation Series has been off to a great start. After their initiation into the series with a conversation on the Luxury Cars, the second event was held on 16th December, 2016, where the students gained deep insights into the changing Jewellery Industry. The students learnt from the industry stalwarts about the consumers then and now.

The panellists included Ashok Minawala (Third generation owner of Danabhai Jewellers), Anita Khatri (Founder of Anita Khatri Luxury Consulting Services), Aparna Gujral (Design Head at Ganjam), Sanjeev Mehta (Founding Partner of Apranje Jewellery) and Yash Dhamani (Young Gemologist from National Facets; Student, Masters in Global Luxury Goods and Services Management at S P Jain Global). The panellists helped the students view the dynamic Jewellery Industry from the aspects that most students were oblivious of.

The conversation discussed the fundamentals of brand building along with the need for inventory management in this robust but trend driven industry and elaborated on the diverse mind sets of the buyers belonging to various age groups. The panellists matched the students’ enthusiasm while sharing anecdotes and answering their questions and also explained how a country's culture affects their buying behaviour with relevant examples from India, China and the United States of America. While emphasising the need for a design philosophy, the Conversation Series facilitated the students understand the jewellery industry from a global as well as local perspective.
