ALUMNI SPEAK: ARUNKUMAR SUBRAMANIAN

Currently heading the Business Development and Operations  for Bahwan CyberTek in Qatar, Arunkumar Subramanian is an alumnus of S P Jain School of Global Management’s GMBA, 2009. Bahwan CyberTek (BCT) is a global IT products and services provider with over 3000 employees. Arunkumar joined BCT in 2010 for his second job after his MBA. Arunkumar started his post MBA career as an Account Manager and then grew up the ladder to become a Geo head. “When I look back at my career growth and connect the dots, I can attribute my success to many aspects of S P Jain, like faculty, infrastructure, peers and location. But the precious piece of advice came from none other than Mr. Nitish Jain and it is one of my key success factors on a personal/professional front”, he recalls.

Born in Chennai, India’s young entrepreneur, Khameer Shah, began to show an interest in the Lighting Industry at an early age. Through technological innovation, keen business strategy, and an aggressive business tactic, he established a company in Chennai with one simple mission to offer the highest standard of creative lighting design and client service.

Why is Virtual Reality hot for Venture Capitalists?

Why are Venture Capitalists (VC) bullish and heavily investing in Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) technologies? We can easily wind-up discussing this with just one case: we have all ‘heard’ of the Magic Leap that raised a staggering amount nearing $1.4 billion from some of the world’s biggest companies and well known venture firms. What is this technology? Why is its product in beta nowhere to be seen? The Wired Magazine called them ‘The World’s Most Secretive Start-Up’ in ‘The Untold Story of Magic Leap’. We can hardly guess the valuation of the company which is still doing R&D for their first product, launch of which, as some critics claim, is nowhere near. But the valuation is leading to a staggering $4.5 billion at the least.

THE ART OF NEGOTIATION: Negotiation V/S Marketing V/S Selling

In a business to consumer (B2C), negotiation is very different from marketing and selling. The primary difference is that Marketing is about making people aware of the product, services, or business, whereas Selling is to convince the other person to buy your product or service. Negotiation normally succeeds selling, because once a customer has agreed to buy the product or service, then issues about price, payment terms, delivery, quantity, and others will surface, which are negotiable.
