Supply Chain & Transport Award 2009

The Supply Chain and Logistics awards were instituted in 2007 by publishers ITP Business, who publish transportation magazines – including Logistics Middle East, Air Cargo Middle East & India, Sea Freight Middle East and Aviation Business. The SCATA 2009 ceremony included 16 categories in total, covering the logistics, sea freight and air cargo sectors.

The SCATA awards recognize those regional and international companies that stand out in the fiercely competitive environment. Nominations were invited for the work completed within the Middle East region, this includes: Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE, and Yemen.

S P Jain Center of Management (S P Jain) had submitted their nomination under “Training and Education Provider of the Year” category. The Logistics and Supply Chain industry in the Middle East needs highly skilled professionals for their various projects. There are a number of Universities and Institutions offering these specialized courses in UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Iran and Bahrain.

S P Jain offers a specialization in Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management (GLSCM) under their Global MBA program. In the recent past, the various activities undertaken by faculty and students of the GLSCM specialization which included research projects co-mentored by S P Jain faculty and industry mentors, active participation in industry sponsored events, guest lectures by industry professionals, visits to logistics and supply chain related projects and establishments were all appreciated and testified by companies like Maersk Logistics, Landmark Group, Ehrhardt + Partner Solutions etc.

There was a keen competition for the SCATA award between S P Jain and the other nominees - Emirates Aviation College, GAC Academy, Gulf University of Science & Technology (GUST) Kuwait, and University of Bolton, Ras Al Khaimah in the final round. This award brings recognition to S P Jain all over the Middle East and offers numerous opportunities for the GMBA students specializing in Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management and also for the Executive MBA program students.

Some of the winners in other categories were, Maersk Line (Shipping line of the year), Gulftainer (Port Authority and Terminal Operator of the year), Drydocks World (Shipyard of the year), Emirates SkyCargo (Commercial Airline of the year), Cargolux (Cargo Operator of the year), Dubai Cargo Village (Cargo Hub of the year), TNT Express (Express Logistics Provider of the year), Ehrhardt + Partner Solutions (Technology Provider of the year), SPAN Group (Material Handling Provider of the year) and Unilever (FMCG Supply Chain of the year).

It is an honor for S P Jain to be among such an elite list of companies in the Middle East.
