Dr. Michael J. Barnes takes over as Dean – GMBA program

S P Jain Center of Management (S P Jain) has appointed Dr. Michael J. Barnes to be Dean of the Global MBA program which is conducted jointly at S P Jain's Dubai and Singapore campuses. He will be located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Prior to his appointment at S P Jain, Dr. Barnes was the founding Academic Dean of Hult International Business School in Dubai.

Previously, Dr. Barnes was the inaugural John F. Fiedler-BorgWarner Endowed Chair in Global
Business Studies at Kent State University, Ohio where he taught international courses to
undergraduates and MBAs for the finance, economics, marketing, and management departments.

Dr. Barnes brings an impressive combination of business experience and academic credentials to this position. He has more than twenty five years experience in international finance and banking, holding such positions as Investment Officer for the World Bank in Washington D.C., as the Executive Director of Fuji International Finance in London, Director of Lazard Brothers Asset Management, as Senior Vice President of Gulf International Bank in Bahrain, as an Executive Director with UBS in London and First Vice President of Union Bank of Switzerland in Zurich, and as Deputy General Manager of the London Branch of the Industrial Bank of Japan.

He has research experience at the London Business School's Econometric Forecasting Unit,
and participated in executive programs at Northwestern University's Kellogg School, and the Harvard Institute for International Development. Dr. Barnes holds a BSc (Econ.)degree from the London School of Economics & Political Science, an MBA from Stanford University, and the Executive Doctor of Management degree from Case Western Reserve University.

At Case Western's Weatherhead School of Management in Cleveland, Ohio, he served as Assistant Dean for Action Learning & Corporate Liaison and as Executive Director of Relationship Management. Subsequently, he was Assistant Dean and Director of the Full-Time MBA Program at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota.
