November 1, 2011 (Singapore) - Chairman and President of S P Jain School of Global Management, Mr. Nitish Jain, has appointed Dr. Mark Crosby as Dean of the Global Master of Business Administration (GMBA) and interim Dean of the Global Bachelors of Business Administration (GBBA) effective October 17, 2011.
“Dr. Crosby has his roots in academic excellence in international macroeconomics, international finance, and economic policies in the Asia Pacific region, with particular interest in exchange rate regimes and business cycles. In addition to being a recognized thought leader in macroeconomics, Dr. Crosby brings with him nearly two decades of tertiary and post-graduate teaching experience, real-world business knowledge, and over six years of university leadership with him,” says Mr. Jain.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Crosby lead the GMBA program. Both management and faculty are looking forward to working closely with him to expand on our strengths and further enhance the GMBA and GBBA programs, and addressing business needs and challenges in the current global economy.”
Dr. Crosby has held academic appointments at the University of Toronto, the University of New South Wales, and the University of Melbourne, where he was most recently the Associate Dean (International) at the Melbourne Business School.
Dr. Crosby responds that, “I am very excited to be part of S P Jain School of Global Management and honored to be entrusted the leadership of the GMBA and GBBA programs at the institution, as well as being a member of an enthusiastic faculty. The reason I am at the S P Jain School of Global Management is because it has a fabulous and inspired international team, and I am very passionate about globalization. S P Jain’s GMBA program has attained very strong global rankings. In addition to its academic reputation, its strategic presence in Dubai, Singapore, and soon, Sydney (in 2012) enables us to leverage these locations to make the programs more global and to enhance diversity.”
He added, “In order for global business leaders to be able to make better decisions, they need to be very broad and lateral thinkers. A modern business curriculum must have integrated subjects that challenge business students to analyze and solve difficult problems, and we aim to bring this integrative and broad perspective into the programs at S P Jain.”
Dr. Crosby has co-authored a widely-used textbook on macroeconomics, and publishes regularly in academic journals, contributes articles to the media, and has written a number of book chapters.
