GMBA Program
S.P. Jain's Global MBA Program is an intensive one year program which is conducted 6 months in Singapore and 6 months in Dubai with Sydney being optional. In view of the program being one, you do not need to apply separately for the two campuses, as it is part of one program and thus you need to send us one application only.
1 Are majority of applicants to S P Jain’s GMBA program also applicants of SPJIMR, Mumbai’s PGDM (2 year) program?

Only 10% of students who have applied to S P Jain, Dubai-Singapore have also applied to the Mumbai campus’ program. The remaining 90% have applied only to the GMBA program because it is a unique program and quite different to the program being offered out of the Mumbai campus in terms of the time spent to complete the program, global faculty and specialization streams.

2 Is the rotation between the two campuses compulsory, or can I choose which campus to go to?

The 6-month crossover between the two campuses is compulsory and which campus you start from depends on your field of specialization. You cannot choose which campus you want to study at.

3 Which specializations start at which campus?

Finance (IBWM, ACFM, BM) and IT specializations start in Dubai first and then crossover to Singapore, while Marketing (RM,SMM,PMM), Logistics (GLSCM) and GHRM specializations start in Singapore first and then crossover to Dubai.

4 Is "On-Campus" housing compulsory or can I stay "Off-Campus" on my own?

"On-Campus" housing is compulsory and you cannot stay "Off-Campus".

5 When does the course commence? Do you have more than one intake in a year?

The batch will commence on 2nd April 2010 in Dubai and 4th April 2010 in Singapore (tentative). Yes we do have two intakes - the first in April/ May and the second in November/December of each year.

6 How good is the one-year Global MBA program being offered by you as compared to the two-year program of SPJIMR, Mumbai?

The quality of both programs is the same. However, the Dubai-Singapore program being a one-year program is more rigorous. Apart from a three week break during the year, there are no holidays. The specializations in both programs are different. In terms of the number of classroom hours, the Dubai-Singapore program will have 900 hours; that is about the same as our two-year program in Mumbai.

7 Why is the duration of your course for one academic year only?

The one year format is very common in Europe and is very quickly being accepted all over the world. Working executives would rather be away from work just for a year instead of 2 years. . Also the one-year program enables students to start working a year earlier.

8 Can I do the course through correspondence?

No, you cannot do the course through correspondence.

9 Is your college along similar lines to the ISB College in Hyderabad?

The focus of S P Jain, Dubai-Singapore is international, with a job-oriented curriculum, which gives the students the ability to interact closely with Dubai, and Singapore based companies. We cannot comment on ISB’s or any other.

10 I am an engineer. Which stream is suited to me?

It is important to choose a specialization depending on what career you want to have. Engineers are welcome to apply to our specialization in Information Technology, Global Logistics & Supply Chain Management or any of our other specializations.

11 In what currency are fees payable - be they for evaluation, aptitude test or for the program?

Fees may be paid in AED or USD. The USD figures mentioned are at the current rate of exchange - 1 USD = 3.65 AED - Should there be any change in this exchange rate, the prevailing USD exchange rate to the AED is to be taken at the time of making payments. Fees are payable at our Dubai and Singapore campus only. However, for administrative purposes only and to facilitate and assist students based in India, the fees (in AED/USD only) may be sent to the India Liaison Office who will forward the same on to the Dubai Office. No rupee payments will be accepted in India.

Evaluation and aptitude test fees may be paid as follows :-

  • Students in India - in Indian rupees

12 What is the cost of the program and when are the payments due?

13 Can I submit more than one application under 2 different specializations?

This is strictly not allowed. A student needs to submit only one application and has been given the choice of applying for 2 specialisations in a single application only. In fact duplication of applications may lead to a student’s form/admission being disqualified.

14 Post submitting my application I noticed that I had forgotten to enter certain details - what should I do in this case? Should I reapply?

If you have forgotten to mention certain details in your application and wish to inform us about the same, all you are required to do is send an email to gmba@spjain.org with all the details and information that you wish to update on your form with and the Admissions Team will do the needful.
