Backwaters, the annual business and cultural fest of Indian Institute of Management Kozikhode (IIM-K) was held between November 19 and 22. The much awaited event in the b-school fraternity saw participation from more than 50 premiere b-schools of the country. A major event of Backwaters was C-Strat which was hosted by Central Bank of India & Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode, in association with Cognizant Technology Services (CTS). The main objective of C-Strat was to come up with an implementable proposal for an innovative idea. It presented a unique challenge to wear the thinking hat of the CTS top management and pave the path ahead.

The competition was conducted in two rounds. In the first round, teams were required to submit a 20-slide presentation. Based on their performance, best five teams were shortlisted to present their ideas to the executive panel from CTS led by the President & Managing Director, Mr. Anand and including senior Consulting Managers including Mr. Ram Prasad and Mr. Anay Das. The competitive arena was flanked by the teams from ISB, IIM K, NITIE and S P Jain.

The team Trailblazers of S P Jain, comprising Ankur Kumar Daftuar, Apurva Bhargava and Archit Jauhari, won the second prize beating the leading colleges of India. Team Masters of the Mind from NITIE, Mumbai emerged as the winners. Apart from the appreciation for the business plan, the S P Jain team also received special accolades for its video and presentation. The team won a cash prize of INR 20000, along with the certificates.

The team presented their plan on Social Media Marketing in B2B Segment. A detailed plan explaining the concept, advantages, implementation and sustainability of the business held the attention of the judges and the audience.

With relevant support of information acquired from Youtube, S P Jain students presented a video as a part of their presentation.
