S P Jain hosts 1st ever HR Conclave 2012 in Dubai bringing together best-in-class senior HR and Business Executives from the Middle East region

On March 27, 2012, S P Jain School of Global Management organized the first edition of 'The HR Conclave 2012' which was designed around the experiences and expertise of Middle East’s best-in-class HR and business executives. The theme of the 1st conclave was “Managing Human Capital in the Middle East”. The conclave explored best practices in human capital management and talent management in the Middle East. More specifically, plenum sessions focused on what the Middle East HR leaders encompass to achieve success, the pitfalls they have to avoid and the technologies and services that are used to facilitate their success. The conclave also highlighted the challenges and opportunities for Middle East HR professionals in the area of Nationalization. In addition, the conclave also addressed the challenges of creating processes, building culture and leveraging technology to continually nurture talent and drive success in.
The whole day event hosted at the Ritz Carlton, DIFC brought together more than 130 senior HR professionals including HR Directors and Vice Presidents from across the Middle East region, all gathered with the intention of understanding the changing business landscape and how their organizations can adapt to stay successful. The day commenced with a welcome by Dr. Panos Manolopoulos, Vice Chairman and Regions Managing Partner of Middle East region for Stanton Chase International and a member of the S P Jain Industry Advisory Board about human resources in the Middle East. He shared some key facts and laid down the program details of what could be expected during the day. It was followed by a short but eye-opening speech on S P Jain’s ultimate goal and vision as a leading global business school by Mr. Nitish Jain, President, S P Jain School of global Management. The scintillating keynote address by Dr. Markus Wiesner, CEO Middle East & North Africa, Aon Hewitt Middle East Limited summarized the opportunities and challenges of human capital within the region through a presentation of their proprietary study “Qudurat”.
Professor Christopher Abraham, Senior Vice President - Institutional Development and Head of the Dubai campus, S P Jain School of Global Management, presented the key findings of the research undertaken by S P Jain both in the Middle East and South East Asia and set the stage for the panel discussions scheduled for the day. The first panel discussion, chaired by Mr. Hani Hirzallah, CIB HR, Barclays along with Ms. Elke Willaert, Manager, HR, DHL Express, Mr. Massoud Golshani, Vice President, HR, Aujan Industries, Ms. Raksha Hegde, Manager, HR and Admin, HEINZ – Africa and Middle East. This panel addressed the burning issues of Managing Emotional Engagement with employees. The discussion saw various drivers as well as barriers to Emotional Engagement.
The second panel, chaired by Mr. Karsten Breum, Vice President and Head HR for Damco International, Denmark along with Mr. Shishir Jha, Head, HR, Jumbo Electronics, Mr. Adhir Mane, Group HR Head, Landmark Group and Ms. Farzana Kazemi, Group Head - HR, Midland Group pondered over the contemporary issues of Managing Net Generation. The discussion identified ways in which Generation Net impacts the business and how the organizations should adjust to accommodate this generation, with its unique expectation and strengths. Mr. Majd Ehsan Syed, General Manager, Human Resource, Al Futtaim Automotive Group, chaired the third panel discussion on leading HR transformation processes in the Middle East. The panel members included Mr. Clive Harrison, Director, Human Resources, Network International, Dr. Saeed Mohammed, Al Barwani, General Manager, HR, Ducab and Mr. K S Shyam, Director HR, Al Ghanim Industries. The panel members addressed issues relating to leading HR transformation processes in the Middle East.
All the delegates enjoyed the networking opportunity with the brightest minds in HR strategy across diverse industries.
