It was another eventful day at S P Jain’s Dubai campus. A 12 member student delegation team from Roger Williams University led by Dr. Michael R. Melton, Director of Center for Advanced Financial Education and Associate Professor of Finance arrived in the early hours of the morning to further mutual academic and strategic interests. The students are currently undergoing their finance majors with distinction in fund management, managing a real-dollar portfolio.
The delegation was received by Prof. Yusuf Tambawala, General Manager, Corporate Relations at S P Jain. Prof. Tambawala introduced the delegation to the associates of S P Jain and provided a brief introduction to S P Jain and the programs conducted.
The session continued with a talk on “Private Equity Landscape in the GCC region” by Prof. Arindam Banerjee, Assistant Professor of Finance at S P Jain. The talk mainly centered around Prof. Banerjee’s latest research on the topic that would be published in a book titled “Private Equity in Emerging markets” by Palgrave McMillan (UK) in September 2012. The focus of the talk was studying the historical trends in the industry and researching the key success factors that would help future development of the industry at large along with potential challenges that may impede its developments. The talk was followed by a brief Q&A session.
Following on, Prof. Christopher Abraham, Head of S P Jain’s Dubai Campus and Sr. Vice President, Institution Development interacted with the delegates, reiterating the growing need of global academic institutions leveraging on each other’s strengths through continuous collaboration and also initiated a dialogue on similar possible lines of mutual cooperation with Roger Williams University.
The program concluded with lunch where the delegation was treated to local Arabic cuisine.
