S P JAIN hosts MBA executives from FIA Business School, Brazil

A delegation of 40 MBA executives from Fundação Instituto de Administração (FIA) Business School, Sao Paulo, Brazil visited S P Jain School of Global Management, Dubai on the 30th of June 2011 to get an insight into Dubai - its development and business prospects. They had chosen S P Jain School of Global Management as the institution of choice in the Middle East Region for their Multi Country learning Tour as part of the International Module.

FIA's Executive MBA for senior executives is designed to develop their competencies and leadership abilities through continuous self-improvement, by honing their skills with an emphasis on peer learning. Created in 1992, the program is internationally accredited by AMBA-The Association of MBAs, and is a member of the Executive MBA Council of the USA. The program is ranked number 65 in the World by the Financial Times, and is the only Brazilian MBA in that ranking. The program of studies includes an International module that offers classes and visits to companies in Asia, United States and Europe. The delegates with an average of fifteen years of experience represented several global and Brazilian companies.

The event commenced with a warm welcome to the delegates and an introduction to S P Jain by Dr. Balakrishna Grandhi, Dean of S P Jain's Executive MBA program. Dr. James Wright, Director of FIA's International Executive MBA introduced FIA, its programs, alliances and how it has attained recognition over the years. This was followed by a brief introduction to Dubai by Mr. Arindam Banerjee, Professor of Finance at S P Jain. Thereafter, Mr. George Hazapis, Senior Executive from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce gave a comprehensive overview of the process involved in setting up new businesses in Dubai. Later S P Jain's faculty members answered several of the participants' enthusiastic questions about Dubai's economic outlook and the government's emiratisation policy. Dr. Ianna Contardo, Associate Dean of the Global MBA program concluded with a vote of thanks. All the visiting delegates felt that they derived immense benefit from the visit and interactions.

The event was followed by a networking lunch, where delegates had the opportunity to interact with S P Jain's MBA students and learn more about S P Jain and the Middle Eastern culture. Moving forward, given the similarity of S P Jain's and FIA's programs, ambitions and the economies they operate in, the benefits of forging an alliance for multiple initiatives are evident.
