International Symposium organized by ABEST 21 (Japan) and Ministry of Education (Japan) held at S P Jain School of Global Management, Singapore

With a fervor to develop management education to meet the needs of the 21st century, ABEST21 (The Alliance on Business Education and Scholarship for Tomorrow), Japan and MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), Japan organized an International Symposium along with SPJCM (S P Jain School of Global Management), on July 2 and 3, 2010 at the SPJCM Singapore campus.

The Symposium was attended by nearly 20 Deans and Directors from Business Schools across Asia who presented and reviewed research findings on competencies of management professionals in their respective regions with the aim to enhance the quality of Management Education today.

In the plenary session SPJCM President Nitish Jain set the tone for the symposium with his observations that, in the digital era of 21st Century, knowledge is accessible and available to all individuals. Business Schools therefore, need to change their model from that of imparting knowledge to a model that imparts skills, which sets as the key differentiator, and can be immediately applied by their graduates to take on the global business arena today. "It's our job to teach students how to think and how to analyze rather than focusing on theory and conventional academics." says Mr Jain.
