I am working with SONY as the Marketing Manager (VAIO) for Middle East Africa (MEA) & Levant Region and managing the Product & Brand Marketing Operations for VAIO across the region. I am aware it’s still a long road ahead in terms of climbing the corporate ladder, but given the fact that I am the youngest ever Marketing Manager at Sony MEA and the only external candidate to be hired at this level, gives a good feel of being able to fight it out from being a fresher in the industry (in a region that values work ex profiles the most) to now leading the Marketing function of one of the best MNCs on the globe. I pursued my Engineering in Information Systems from Indraprastha University, Delhi. I am currently based in Dubai for the past 7 years. Started my career here post MBA from S P Jain and worked through the ranks across the Beauty, Fashion and Consumer Electronics Industry.

The experience at S P Jain was 'worth it'. The opportunity to learn from the plethora of diverse industry professionals from my batch, where I was one of the few freshers, worked the best for me. I made excellent friends and also polished my personality to come out better prepared for the corporate challenges ahead. I especially recommend the course to the professionals looking for a global career ahead.

Graduating out of the inaugural batch of S P Jain in 2005, my first professional tryst was in the Product Development & Procurement Supply Chain team for KOJ Est. (www.kojamjoom.com) which is one of the largest Beauty, Lingerie & Fashion Retailer in Middle East. I set up their Beauty Division for the business and managed over 30 new product launches within 2 years. I was nominated as Business Analyst and Change Management Lead for the Group’s Oracle ERP Project in 2006 and later on became one of the youngest members in global industry to have a full cycle Oracle ERP implementation experience.

In 2008, I was appointed as the Brand Manager for Middle East Region, where I set up and managed the Middle East Operations for Neal's Yard Remedies (NYR), UK (www.nealsyardremedies.com). I have also been a key presenter at IBF - New York’s conference in Amsterdam and Dubai and have over 4 year experience as a Corporate Management & Leadership Trainer, Personality Development Coach as an extracurricular investment. I was awarded the S P Jain Alumni Professional Excellence Award 2009, for my role as Brand Manager NYR UK.

Batch:
2004-05 - Inaugural Batch of S P Jain

I am working with the Global Marketing Research firm A C Nielsen as a Senior Executive, Consumer Research - The Nielsen Company-Delhi where my role is to facilitate in executing research projects for a global Fast Moving Consumer Goods at a Global level. I wrote a book last year titled ‘Snippets of Life from an Eccentric’ and at the moment, working on my second book on the philosophical doctrine of determinism.

I initially worked with an online travel and experiences firm www.lastminute.com, before my MBA, in the customer services team for 3 years.

My journey at S P Jain enhanced my confidence and professional maturity, where I had a wonderful opportunity to work with some of the finest brains - my batch mates as well as the faculty. The Singapore-Dubai exposure furnished my horizons and outlook which has helped me to a great extent in understanding the world from a global perspective.

I do not think I have achieved considerable amount of success yet since I would measure it in terms of what I can contribute to the world I belong to. However, I am sure I will succeed on this path that I am pursuing.

I am a mid-level manager with Mphasis, an HP company. I worked as a Project Manager with Infosys Technologies before I joined S P Jain’s GMBA program. I had already spent almost 7 years in the Industry by then having worked with leading financial institutions of the world across Hong Kong, New York, Singapore & India. So effectively, I was a technology professional good at execution who had rode the Dotcom boom and “coming of age of India IT services” in early 2000. Post my GMBA, I have moved to Consulting Financial Institutions on Technology from Executing & Managing Technology projects for companies.

More than the immediate success where I have smoothly transitioned from execution to consulting, it was the overall skills which I had acquired at S P Jain which makes me confident to face the ever changing business world. I rejoined the Industry post my GMBA in the year 2008, a daunting year for financial services organizations all across the world. The proficiency I gained during my year at S P Jain helped me sail through the slowdown, as I was able to utilize my prior expertise with the new skills acquired, efficiently.

To summarize, it is important for every professional to re-skill oneself after a certain point in time to be relevant to the industry; and I am glad to have taken the right decision at the right moment in joining S P Jain’s GMBA course.

I am looking forward to grow professionally for another 5 years in the IT services organizations and want to graduate to handling client relationships in the near future. I see myself getting into the education sector, along with my wife. Increasing products and services are being tailored for particular individuals and it is no longer ‘one size fits all’. Companies are spending hundreds of dollars on creating capability in this area using the analytics. I wish to focus particularly on the psychological aspects, with the help of analytics, in professional business education.

Success is a relative measure. The life and personality skills at a B-School are regularly downplayed. A B-School education is more than professional education like Engineering Sciences. The fact today, that I have a happy family and being able to face the challenges better, both personally and professionally, is what I think I would like to measure my success with.

Post my GMBA at S P Jain, I joined ANZ Banking Group in Singapore in their Wealth Management team. Since I had studied in Singapore, I already had gained some knowledge of the local markets. I am currently a Business Development Manager for the Affluent Banking Group at ANZ Singapore.

My experience at S P Jain was a good blend of marketing and finance which is essential for my present role. It has definitely helped a newbie like me to the field of sales to work my way up with confidence. Also, in future, I plan to continue to work in Singapore and explore more challenging areas in the financial market space.

Overall, my 1 year at S P Jain was simply brilliant. The diverse subjects helped me gain a holistic perspective of business. Learning from the faculty and more than that, from my colleagues in class was challenging yet enriching. Having many batch-mates from different work backgrounds always made the discussions in class more inspiring. Lastly the 2 city model taught me to adapt to situations effectively and also groomed me to be culturally sensitive. Hostel life was great too and I am glad to have taken this 1 year to pursue my career further.

After completing my electronics engineering from Mumbai University, I joined ICICI Bank as a senior officer in the Projects & Strategy team for the Retail Banking business group in Mumbai. During my 3.5 years at ICICI I worked on key projects focused on enhancing the effectiveness of Alternate Banking Channels such as Internet, Mobile and Phone banking. After 3.5 years I chose to quit ICICI as an Assistant Manager to pursue the S P Jain GMBA program with Banking Management super specialization in the batch of April 2009. I was also a part of the cohort that went to Schulich Business School in Toronto for the 3 month program.

It is fair to say now that a lot has changed in my life after my MBA. Starting my own company was a dream that I had since my college days and the MBA at S P Jain aptly gave me the opportunity to do so.

At S P Jain, more importantly I learnt the practical skills that are relevant to the market practices. This has truly helped me in my interactions with senior management and clients in the real business world.

I wouldn’t say that I have been successful already. I am still trying my best to succeed in life. ThoughtBuzz is just a way of achieving that success. Though some people look at success in monetary terms, I prefer to look at it in the way I do things. In that respect I am doing what I always wanted to and so I think I am successful but there is still much to do.

Before I did my MBA at S P Jain School of Global Management, I was working at Oracle as Associate Consultant. This was my first job after graduating from Singapore Management University. It was a normal IT job with its pros and cons however I enjoyed it mostly due to my colleagues. They were a bunch of really cool people and helped me a lot along the way. The idea of doing a MBA came after I was a bit bored of my current job. Instead of just switching over to another IT job with a better pay, I said to myself –“why not go for a MBA and see where it takes me”.

I now, look forward to continue on my path to take ThoughtBuzz to the next level and grow the company efficiently.

Today, I am able to start my own company because of the knowledge and exposure I received at S P Jain. At S P Jain, I attained exposure to every field of management. Relevant case studies discussed during my S P Jain days, still help me in my day to day operations. Especially the entrepreneurship course gave me enough skills and confidence to start on my own.

My 7 month old private limited company contains 7 full time employees. Interviews are going on to add 3 more. Very recently they won a government skill development project under Ministry of Rural development as a sub contractor for soft skills training in rural areas. DBE will be recruiting 8 trainers for this. By mid of August 2011, DBE employee strength will be around 16-18.

Before MBA I was working as Senior Software Engineer at Kodiak Networks. Now I am running my own skill development-talent management company, DBE Education and HR Consultants Private Limited, as Managing Director & CEO.

My future goal is for my company to be a respectful skill development-talent management company having Pan India presence. I wish to be a part of increasing the livelihood of people of India by enhancing their skills through National Skill Development Program of the Government.
