S P Jain in News |
Over 80 participants from 15 countries were at the S P Jain’s Singapore campus from June 26th to 29th for the third annual Bridge to BBA event. Bridge to BBA is a short program designed to provide its participants skills for transitioning to university-level studies; it allows them to learn about the tri-cities Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at S P Jain and the unique value proposition for studying in Singapore, Dubai and Sydney. The annual event provides participants the opportunity to meet the international faculty and staff who teach and guide students through their university experience, managing education while balancing social lifestyle as students. Through these events international and local participants get to explore the S P Jain campus in Singapore, experience lectures and workshops as well as getting to know about life in Singapore (for the international students visiting Singapore for the first time). On the three days that followed, a series of events were rolled out that kick-started with a rousing welcome speech by Dr. Mark Crosby, Former Dean, Global MBA and Master of Global Business, which was followed Name Bingo activity that encouraged participants to get to know more about their peers. Later on Professor Christopher Abraham, Head of Dubai campus and Senior Vice President, Institutional Development presented an interesting session called The Creativity Genius in You. The students then had a Lunch Meeting with the BBA faculty after which they had an exciting two hours of team building exercises letting the energetic participants’ creative juices flow by a skit performance called Conan the Librarian! The evening was free and easy time with an option to join the Night Safari tour led by the Marketing team. Prof. Rajesh Srivastava, faculty and Chief of Operations conducted an interesting session on Marketing to Facebook Generation which was followed by a session applied business and cultural learning called Beyond Classrooms by Prof. Golo Weber. After lunch, the students changed clothes and prepared for the outdoors where they were brought to Bedok Reservoir to try their hand at Dragon Boating, a popular local extra-curricular activity for youths. After the pre-requisite safety briefing, everyone eagerly donned their life-jackets, grabbed their oars and boarded the boats in groups of twenty and started rowing to the beat of the drums. After the intense physical and mental activity and thrills of synchronised boating, the participants were treated to local culinary flavours of Singapore for lunch at Lau Pa Sat. Here the current BBA students introduced a plethora of dishes to the participants - Kuay Teow, Carrot Cake, Satay, Chicken Rice, Pau, Chendol, Ais Kachang, Teh Tarik and many others. After which they returned to the campus, full and happy. The next day started with Dr. Alesa Lightbourne, Dean of the BBA program showing a management video and conducted a discussion around it. That afternoon they were treated to a very humorous session on Life in Singapore by Professor Seng Choon followed by an address by the President of S P Jain, Mr. Nitish Jain who fielded a Q & A session and interacted with the participants. As the participants represented fifteen countries, a Talentime was organized where the participants gave cultural insights and folk performances of their native country. Filipino students sang, the Vietnamese danced and the Thai students gave an informative presentation on Thailand. A grand Farewell Dinner at the Banquet Hall marked a successful event and participants were awarded Bridge to BBA certificate of participation. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
